Pankau Announces County Board Chairman Candidacy
August 4, 2009
ITASCA – State Senator Carole Pankau (R-Itasca) spoke with almost 3,500 DuPage County Residents last night where she officially announced her candidacy for DuPage County Board Chairman. Pankau utilized cutting edge technology to host a one-hour tele-town hall on Monday August 3rd.
“Through this technology, I spent more time listening to the concerns of residents last night then I did talking about my plans for the future of DuPage County” Pankau said. “In my years of public service I have learned that listening to the opinions and concerns of residents is vital for providing exceptional representation.”
Pankau served as a DuPage County Board member from 1984-1992, as a State Representative from 1993 to 2004, and currently serves as the State Senator from the 23rd Senate District. As a State Senator Pankau serves on the Labor Committee as the Minority Spokesperson, she also serves on the Appropriations II Committee, Public Health Committee, Executive Committee, Energy Committee, Environment Committee, and serves on the Deficit Reduction Committee. Pankau is a member of the Senate Republican Leadership team, where she serves as the Senate Republican Whip.
“After talking to several thousand DuPage County residents last night, I am wholly convinced I have made the best decision for myself, and for the future of our County” Pankau said. “Over a year ago I began talking with my husband John about running for this position; then two months ago DuPage County Republican Chairman Dan Cronin asked me to think about running for DuPage County Board Chairman. After talking with family, friends, neighbors and supporters I have made the decision that I need to seek this office because DuPage County needs a chairman committed to sound fiscal management, lower taxes and a government representative of the people.”
